The Sweden based retail chain Coop has decided to introduce
innovative compostable Bioplastic packaging to be used for its brand frozen berries, it intentionally
chosen a costly base material for ecological reasons.
The selected material by Coop is paperboard Invercote Bio it’s a
virgin fiber based board covered with Bioplastic. The Bioplastic turns this packaging compostable as a result the
used packaging goes into the similar waste line as other contents also go.
This result is healthier for the atmosphere but is costly by
reason of the more sophisticated nature of the Bioplastic in comparison with
those of conventional PE coatings. Louise Konig the
Sustainability Manager in Coop explained that our decision is perfectly in line
to our sustainability course of action and actually it’s not as unusual as we integrate
sustainability policy in all our business pondering.
Commercial manager in Invercote Bio Mr.
Jonas Adler told that the Bioplastic does not have starch made by genetically
modified maize.
Project manager Henrik Bjurback
told that our endeavor was to introduce a packaging which stands apart from the
customary rectangular packs in the exhibit freezers. Apart from this we wanted to fulfill
Coop's yearning to follow the environmental silhouette of the Anglamark brand.
