BioAmber and Vinmar international to sign 15 year contract on succinic acid

BioAmber declared today to sign up a take or pay contract of 210,000 per year with Vinmar International. The leading industrial biotechnology company signed this contract for biosuccinic acid under rules of 15 year agreement. According to the contract, the joint venture of Mitsui & Co. and BioAmber, BioAmber Sarnia commits to sell 10K tons of succinic acid per annum through the 30,000 ton per year capacity while Vinmar commits to purchase the same. This 15 year agreement of production and sales of succinic acid is based upon the under constructed plant in Sarnia which will offer production facilities to BioAmber.

The under constructed plant for the production of biosuccinic acid is the part of this master take off agreement  which will undergo expansion up to annual capacity of 70K ton of bio-succinic acid and100K tons of bio BDO. Alternatively, Vinmar can secure extra bio-succinic acid tonnage under the take-or-pay contract in case BioAmber does not commits rest of the volume at the time financing of the plant becomes secured.

In the projected plant for biosuccinic acid, Vinmar plans to invest 10 percent of the equity; BioAmber expects to start the plant till 2020on the basis of projected development of the succinic acid industry.

Innovia to dive into the production of biolaminate layers for packaging

Innovia, an established name in the world of biopackging preparation has joined hands with Bio4pack, Caturra Coffee and QV Foods for production of far efficient Biolamination Layer. Basically, a biolamination product bears one or two layers made up of non plastic but adhesive substrate. Actually, the conventional lamination layer possesses toxic effects on human health, that’s why production of bio based laminate layer is being entertained by the company. According to the marketing manager of packaging and sustainability of the company, Andy Sweetman, most of the customers don’t understand while buying products that the laminate layer in packaging of those products consists of two or more layers which are laminated together, so that their properties also joins together to develop some toxic effects. The principle of biobased lamination is based upon the idea of excluding those conventional products from the list and replacing it with far sustainable bioproducts. In this way, the two most important results to be appreciated are recycling of the product becomes possible and the product can be subjected for renewable deals.

Innovia is known well for utilizing the Natureflex Film, a high gloss layer with degree of permeability for moisturizing the packaging in order to prevent dehydration on a side as this can lead to growth of moulds on the other side.

Meridian Inc to harvest its first Canola crop for production of bioplastics

The first Canola crop by a Meredian Inc., the Georgia based company is ready to manufacture biopolymers. According to the company’s spokesperson, raw material for the production of bioplastic products will be evolved with the help of this crop. Local fields around the production site are employed for cultivation of the crop. The most important thing in this entire process is the Canola oil but it is really a costly source. On the other hand, any plant derivative oil can be used as an option for conversion of carbon into biopolymers. Canola is the best for this process as it can be grown locally without any additional efforts. This idea cuts down the cost of freight and care of the far situated crop.
