Genomatica to proceed for development of nylon intermediate to meet international demand

Genomatica possesses eight issued U.S. patents and multiple pending applications internationally for caprolactam and adipic acid. Many options are there for the company for growth of engineering plastics developed with bio-based content. The company declares that majority of nylon intermediates are on focus for the 3rd publicly revealed development program. These intermediates also involve caprolactam, adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine. Moreover, a development process technology is on progress for the production of bio-based materials out of these intermediates. In this way, a rough estimation of the annual market from these three chemicals is more than 18 billion dollars.

Now, the company is engaged in the bio-based process that offers the same chemical that are made up of petroleum based feedbacks. Also, one more thing being taken under consideration in the production is to evaluate economics and sustainability of the product. One more benefit of the opportunity is to avoid the unwanted price rise in oil based plastics; in addition, the products will be eco friendly as per expectation. As the process of developing biobased products include some micro-organisms, cellulose sugar from biomass and conventional sugars comprise the feedstock for them. Nylon intermediates are recovered through the fermentation process.

Chinaplas 2014 to promote the Chinese company for usage of biodegradable plastics

Chinaplas media is ready to represent all those awesome solutions that have been raised by the leading Chinese companies. Most of the companies working for production of biodegradable and biobased plastic products are ready to promote their work at Chinaplas 2014. A reputed group in China, Shinaxi Jinhui attained good success in production of salt chemicals and coal cooking industry. There is no lack of service groups working for promotion of carbon and clean technology at Chinaplas. According to the vice president of Shanxi Jinhui group, the economic price of pollution is going higher and air quality is becoming the major concern now. This is really a big tension for future generations. Although, the government is taking all the important steps for protection of environment such as implementing ban on plastic bags etc. but the idea proved not to be much result oriented. The firm is known well for the production of PBAT in Asia; it is nothing but a terpolymer produced with 1, 4-butanediol, terephthalic acid and adipic acid. As per the declaration of the company, 130% and 120% impact strength and tear resistance respectively. PBAT production is carried out in single step which is decomposable into CO2 and water within 6 months by microbes.

Rennovia and JM Davy are partners now

Rennovia and Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies Ltd. (JM Davy) are joining hands for the development, demonstration and commercialization of catalytic processes for the manufacture of bio-based adipic acid and glucaric acid. This collaborated development will be carried out on the basis of Rennovia’s catalytic aerobic technology for the oxidation of glucose to glucaric acid along with the catalytic hyrdrogenation of the glucaric acid to adipic acid.

Adipic acid is a petroleum-based industrial chemical with applications in engineering resins, nylon-6,6 fibers, adipic ester plasticizers and polyester polyols used in polyurethanes. The collaborators aim at the development of a technology which can produce bio-based adipic acid at a lower price than the petroleum-based chemical and also leave a smaller environmental footprint. Glucaric acid is widely used in de-icing, cement, anti-corrosion markets and detergent.

1.5 million tons of chemical products which are bio based and utilized catalytic chemical transformation technology in its production has already been licensed by JM Davy. The company is also the owner of a licensing technology for the production of propylene glycol from glycerin. JM Davy is well-established in the oleochemicals industry and has a wide array of clients including Ecogreen, Pan Century, KLK and others. For these reasons, Rennovia believes that JM Davy is an ideal partner for development and licensing of the bio-based adipic acid and glucaric acid products.
