Decatur County is now experiencing cultivation of canola in big level as Meridian Inc., a privately held biopolymer is planning to introduce biopolymer with this crop. 10,000 acres of canola fields have been subjected for production and harvesting of these crops. The process of manufacturing biopolymers by the company is based upon canola which is applied as raw material, generally utilized for the production of compostable plastic products. One of the most costly elements in the process of biofuel production is canola oil. As it is very expensive to make the process costly, the company plans to cut down unnecessary cost of the process by using plant derivative oils as an alternate.
