Amyris’ Brotas biorefinery plant in Brazil has been running well for 3 months despite of water and electricity problem in the country. According to the plan, Amyris wants to continue operations without any interruption till the onset of sugarcane season as the company will have performed maintenance plans earlier than beginning production in 2015. According to this 3rd quarterly report, company’s spokesperson stated that fragrance oil, the second molecule has been completed and also subjected for transition to the farnesene production utilizing a new strain. On the basis of this strain, the company is planning for production of farnesene costs below $3 per liter.

Further the company expects growth in revenue in 2015 from Neossance squalene and hemi squalene emollients, two farnesene derivatives for the flavors and fragrance industry. More to know is that Merilene, a new farnesene derivative solvent of the company is about to be launched for application in industrial cleaners. Amyris is also working for the production of farnesene based fuels.
Partner of Amyris for farnesene rubber project, Kuararay noted that about two tire manufacturers are planning to start first stage production of high performance and extensive winter tires with the use of liquid farnesene rubber.
