Zandonella and Beanarella together secured the first position in the ninth annual Bioplastics Award of Bioplastics Magazine. Jury has given exactly same points to both the companies for their performance. These bioplastic companies are working well in the packaging industry and represent a wide series of electronics, environmental markets and packaging markets on international level. Packaging has become an integrated sector for bioplastics developers but both of these finalists have higher functionality in comparison to the standard bioplastic bags and containers.
All the packaging items developed by the finalist companies are prepared with renewable materials which are perfect for application in industrial composting. Paper wrap, cellulose labels, PLA films, PLA inlay, PLA coating film are the products developed by them. During 2014, Zandonella became popular for launching the best Sandro’s Bio Gourmet ice cream in a BioFoam box. The BioFoam box has been introduced as bio-friendly substitute for EPS. This special box could keep the ice cream frozen for about an hour.
