Bayer MaterialScience to develop techniques for sending CO2 back to material cycle

Bayer MaterialScience is working in the field of life cycle management with great dedication. UTECH 2015 conference is being attended by the company with a slogan, ‘Do You Think In Life Science’. The international level polyurethanes trade show invites visitors to join the company in developing solutions for completion of the carbon cycle. This will also help to increase service life of products as well as reduction of environmental footprints. The head of commercial operations for polyurethanes in Europe, Hermann Josef states that Bayer MaterialScience is working hard to show clearly that CO2 can be fed back into the material cycle through development of technology. As Co2 is utilized as building blocks for synthesis of some foam precursors, it is also required to be sent back to the material cycle. This idea also helps to reduce dependency on fuels which are based on fossils.

The capacity of bio-based plastic production has been planned to hike up to 1.6 million tons in 2013 to about 6.7 million tons by 2018. As per the conclusion of the annual market data update of European Bioplastics, the market has been predicted for over 400 percent growth in the mid-term. The compiled data with respected scientific partners, IFBB and the Nova Institute, this result has been represented during the 9th annual conference of European Bioplastics in Brussels. According to the chairman of European Bioplastics, Francois de Bie, bio-based plastics such as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and PE (polyethylene) are earning more profit in terms of productions.

Bio-degradable and renewable plastics manufactured are supposed to be benefitted from the innovative EU directive in case of decreasing of shopping bags. PLA has become the leading growth booster for compostable and bio-based plastics. The recently developed projects have been planned for implementation on India, China and Thailand. Flexible and sturdy packaging has special role to play in the field of bioplastics. In this entire scenario, Asia will extend its role as a leading manufacturing hub. By 2018, over 75 percent of bioplastics will be manufactured in Asia. Surprisingly, despite of being active in research and development, Europe will remain behind with about 8 percent of production efficiencies.

When it comes upon the discussion of GRP pipes and tanks which have been manufactured utilizing the filament winding processes and centrifugal casting, their market in country is stagnant now; while results were better for the same in 2013. On the other hand, when it comes upon the production and sales of resin transfer molding, the industry has secured up to 5 percent growth in this field and shown better results in 2014 than last year. According to AVK, there is no lack of growth opportunities especially when one talk about the market of pipes still things are not favorable for them in Europe and same products are working well outside the country.

Ethanol Europe and DuPont to join hands for manufacturing collaborative ethanol plant

The European bio-fuel industry is looking for the way to facilitate developmental plants for the production of cellulosic ethanol market through a collaborative venture between Ethanol Europe and DuPont. According to the spokesperson of DuPont, the collaboration between both the companies has an extensive idea to work with three leading components for the manufacturing of detailed research in commercial scale ethanol plant. This ethanol will be supplied to the bio-fuel market in Europe. Further the Foreign Investments’ Minister of Macedonia states that the project is also based on the idea of building an advance bio-refinery possessing the capacity of about 100 million liters. This plant is being planned for beginning of construction in 2016 which can be accomplished till 2018.

Elastomer to increase its demand on global level in 2014

Elastomer, the thermoplastic of North America is highly in demand this year as it participated in good growth of the automotive sector. According to Robert Eller, the consultant, the rate of demand of this thermoplastic is greater than the last year now as it is doing better form economic point of view. When it comes upon discussion about the international market, China and India are the two countries where the product has shown its largest automotive potential. About 20 million new vehicles in these countries are efficient to create over 110 million pounds of new styrenic block copolymer demand within 10 years and thermoplastic vulcanizate.

On the other hand, Europe is facing decrease in the demand of TPE due to declines car sales. Actually, the customer community in the country lost appetite of cars as Europe possesses super developed non auto transport system. Growth of copolyester is based upon the requirement of bioplastics and electronics so thermoplastic polyurethane resins and foam can check increased demand in this direction.

According to Eller, TPE substances can be simply employed for some potential applications such as encapsulation seals, air duct cuffs and heat resistant materials.

SPI, US to aim for making bioplastics an integrated part of the world of plastic production

World’s leading trade groups are concerned about the development of bioplastics instead of non degradable plastics so that they can secure environment during coming years. Keeping this demand on mind, U.S and Europe based traders are employing their attention towards involvement of bioplastics in overall plastic percentage of the world. SPI Bioplasics council in US has created an objective of make situations favorable so that bioplastics will not be supposed to have something different than plastics for handling and production. According to Steve Davies, the industry chair of the SPI Bioplastics Council, they aimed for making bioplastics an integrated part of the plastic world. More information about the same can be explored here -http://www.i2live.net/i2live-report-market-development-of-bioplastics-rigid-and-flexible-packaging-solutions-and-end-of-life-options

According to head of communications at European Bioplastics, Kristy Barbara Lange, all over in the world, Thailand and U.S. are those countries possessing investment in bioplastics production programs. She experienced that over US $ 60 million has been invested in detailing of bioplastics development roadmap by Thailand. While she says that Europe does not report any reliable or concrete plan for bioplastics development and this shows lesser investment of the country for bioplastics manufacturing.

SPI in U.S. aims for development of a toolkit that will help to spread education in municipalities and bioplastic related parties.
