The Bio Business Award 2015 goes to DuPont for introducing eco-friendly technology

The Bio Business Award 2015 has been awarded to DuPont Industrial Biosciences for breakthrough Biobased technology foundation. The award ceremony has been held in Amsterdam under the world bio markets conference. The company is known well for development of sorona biopolymer which is a high performance, sustainable fiber that bears 37 percent renewable biobased ingredients. The fiber utilizes 30 percent lesser energy and decreases emission of the greenhouse gas up to 63 percent in comparison to nylon 6 which is used commonly.

Simon Herriott, the business director of Biomaterials stated that the company has a good and long history in the textile industry. DuPont continues introducing new technologies like Sorona that offers a liberty to designers to show their creativity without any compromise with the quality and performance. Further he adds that these kind of bio-friendly fibers are beneficial for everyone, textile mills, manufacturers and designers as they can provide sustainable clothing to consumers.

PELAGONIA ready to invest into long value chain of biofeeds and bioproducts

In a recent update, PELAGONIA is going to be engaged in the production of sustainable crops so that feeds and other products can be derived from improved harvesting ration. EU state Macedonia will offer the growing land for such sustainable crop production over 200 square kilometers which has been considered as degraded and abandoned for the last few years.

The local farmers will also provide their contribution in this effort to grow crops such as switchgrass and non-food sorghum with an aim which will lead to quality food production, feeds and biofeedstock harvest at the end, as http://en.european-bioplastics.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pelagonia_Fact_Sheet.pdf has reported.

In addition to this, an innovative processing technology DuPont will be implemented in order to produce most demanding sustainable product, cellulosic bioethanol, which will fit best to the global needs of biofuel, bioplastics and biochemicals.

It is further estimated that PELAGONIA is ought to receive millions Euros funds through FDI, quality finance and loan channels in the next time span of 2015-20, which will be superbly invested in the future valued chain of biobased products.

http://en.european-bioplastics.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pelagonia_Fact_Sheet.pdf is of the view that PELAGONIA has been trying its best to get latest and most advance technologies related to ethanologen, seed development and precision farming from the outer world so that market volatility and price fluctuations can be consolidated in the long run.

Ethanol Europe and DuPont to join hands for manufacturing collaborative ethanol plant

The European bio-fuel industry is looking for the way to facilitate developmental plants for the production of cellulosic ethanol market through a collaborative venture between Ethanol Europe and DuPont. According to the spokesperson of DuPont, the collaboration between both the companies has an extensive idea to work with three leading components for the manufacturing of detailed research in commercial scale ethanol plant. This ethanol will be supplied to the bio-fuel market in Europe. Further the Foreign Investments’ Minister of Macedonia states that the project is also based on the idea of building an advance bio-refinery possessing the capacity of about 100 million liters. This plant is being planned for beginning of construction in 2016 which can be accomplished till 2018.

This MOU project will lead way towards establishment of viable supply chain through utilization of energy crops and regional yield of oil seeds and cereals. This idea will help good incentives for renovation of biomass capacity on national level. Further, DuPont will work on cellulosic ethanol technology too for its commercialization in the Nevada bio-refinery. Here the main objective of the company revolves around supply of enzymes for unlocking sugar in biomass. On the other hand, Ethanol Europe plans for investment in development of sustainable agricultural strategy.

DuPont to observe growth and popularity of their bio-products through TNS

TNS is again in discussion now for conduction of DuPont survey in India; the surprising thing to come on light during the survey id that most of the Indian consumers are familiar of using green products. As they are confident enough that green products are good for environment and personal health of people, the demand of products is going higher day by day.  According to the statement of Vikram Prabhu, the regional business director of DuPont Industrial Biosciences, green and bio-based products are good not only for addressing the problem of environment pollution due to growing population of India, but also for meeting expectations of the modern generation and middle class people. On the other hand, Renu Swarup, the Managing Director of BIRAC states that potential for bio-based products in the country has been seen apparently during the survey.

DuPont to introduce Sorona, a bio-based product for preparation of ethnic wears

DuPont is in discussion again for its ultimate sustainability discoveries. This time, the company is going to introduce Sorona, a biopolymer product for commercialization in clothes. Containing about 37 percent of renewable bio-based components, the product is suitable for production of denims, hosiery, shirting, suiting, jackets and swimwear. This product is good for taking about 30 percent lesser power and releasing 63 percent lesser emission from domestic fuel in comparison to nylon. According to Balvinder Singh Kalsi, the President of ASEAN and South Asia, the new Biosciences Laboratory in Hyderabad is specially focused on aspirations of Indian shoppers. Sorona is beig introduced in India soon with lots of hopes and expectations of positive results.

DuPont looking ahead to escalations in bioplastic

DuPont Co. is planning to develop its portfolio of biopolymers with sustainability feature. With the day by day increasing competition in the world of bioplastics, demand of efficient bioplastic manufacturers has been raised by 19 percent on international level. Rick Bell, the manager of DuPont states that the company is planning to make about half of the pace of its product line biobased within 15 years. As the company is going through the process of conversion of polymers into biobased feedstocks from petro based feedstocks, soon the company will have most of its part converted into biobased production lines. The rate of conversion of feedstocks depends upon the technology and economic efficiency of the company. Recent focus of DuPont on renewably sourced polymers improves sustainability and product cost behavior

In order to meet the increasing demands and needs of the end users, DuPont has decided to increase the product quantity of renewable sourced polymers. The company is trying to keep the costs at competitive level along with targeting the end consumers at the same time, said Dr Karlheinz Hausmann although it previously focused on compostable polyesters, sourced from non-renewable products.
As per his statements, end consumers also prefer recyclable materials due to which the company has emphasized on the renewable sourced monomers, without compromising with costs. Latest partnership with Braskem further ensures that DuPont will create different types of multilayer structures such as bio polyethylene & polyethylene including other barrier materials like polyamide, EVOH and cellulosic products.
According to http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/Trends/Going-green/DuPont-targets-renewably-sourced-polymer-increase, DuPont with further try to launch coupling agents completely based on wood composites and polyethylene which are renewably sourced at 95% level.
Both the consumer good and packaging industry are going to benefit with such partnerships which are aimed at improvement in sustainability, performance and downstream system cost of products. It should be noted here that Sorona EP, Hyrel TS, Zytel RS and Zytel RS HTN will be the top performance polymers in the renewably sourced portfolio, which has long term impacts.
