Amyris reinforces chemical mutual partnerships

Amyris is now planning a joint venture with BASF where the company will employ its strain engineering technology for cultivating a microbe that can manufacture a target molecule by BASF. According to the latest news by Amyris, the company is extending its current collaboration with kuraray for two more years regarding the development of high performance polymers. For this purpose, Amyris’ renewable farnesene Biofene is employed. The company is expecting collaboration for a strain development strategy and looking for some more R&D chances on the basis of success of the early development plan. Kuraray is working for development of Biofene based liquid rubber that works for better reaction with tire rubber so that an improved form of product can be found with far better stability, durability and performance. A new range of elastomers like sealants, adherents and viscosity index enhancers is being developed by Kuraray with the help of Biofene. World class tire producers are engaged in field, testing and safety tests for employing liquied rubber in formulation of tires. Also, Amyris is working with M&G Chemicals to on a Biobarrrier technology. An extensive oxygen scavenger will be sold to be mixed with PET as a prepared additive.
