Wheat straw and sugar cane bagasse are the leading waste products to offer sugar for the production of huge amount of oil with the help of Neoleum, a micro organism. Neol discovered and cultivated this strain of microbe and obtained oil for application as raw material in order to produce advance biodiesel. Neoleum is called to have an extensive production power that can develop with a cubic meter bioreactor the equal amount of oil as produced by a hectare of oil palm. Apart from this project, Neol is working for the production of PHA bioplastic also. CDTI has declared to fund the project under its funding plans for market applications on R&D projects in the country.
