Vegware developed cutlery from cornstarch successfully after 2 year’s R&D

Vegware, the totally compostable packaging firm was working on R&D for two years in order to introduce the first cutlery from recycled cornstarch. A variety of manufacturing processes had been tried for the perfect manufacturing and finally the researchers achieved success in getting the best quality product. The latest product recycled by the company is called as RCPLA, bearing very low amount of carbon. The most important thing to know about this new product is that it is certified as compostable product and good for recycling the food waste.

According to the MD and founder of Vegware, Joe Frankel the idea of generating cutlery from recycled cornstarch evolved when he saw waste material from a manufacturing process and thought the way to utilize that wastage for creation of something beneficial. In this way, R&D for this purpose had been started and after two years, generation of sturdy and strong cornstarch cutlery surprised everyone. This exciting and innovative idea is one of all those surprising deals going in the pipeline in Vegware.

The eco friendly cutlery is good for its high heat resistant feature and strong make. Lower amount of embodied carbon in the product is something to make it outstanding in the industry. For quantification of the carbon figures, extensive lifecycle assessment software, SimaPro has been used.
