According to the October
month’s report of Tecnon Orbichem, there are many possibilities of launching
second generation biorefinery soon by M&G chemicals in association with the
leading Chinese company Guozhen. This $500 million project is expected to set up
in Fuyang, China where PROESA technology will be employed for the conversion of
about one million metric tons straw biomass into bio ethanol and bio glycols.
This is an absolutely joyful production to meet a huge demand of bio fuel.
Also, the Eco friendly disposal of waste products in this way is appreciable.
The project will be based upon
biomass MEG technology in which efforts of beta renewable’s PROESA and
Novozymes have been reported. These groups are reported to offer cellulosic
ethanol facility. Guozhen is involved in the project for the supply of straw
biomass and utilization of lignin, a byproduct of the refinery. For feedstock,
a 45 megawatt congeneration plant will be established along with the project in
the site. According to Guozhen, Fuyag is the most suitable place for set up of
biorefinery as the city is rich of biomass resources. Also, it is suitable for
site selection, biomass collection, land acquisition and easy transportation of
biomass. In addition, Guozhen is highly experienced in collection and logistics
of biomass.
Many chances are here that the
project will be launched up to mid 2015. The agricultural area of Fuyang city
is reported for the production of about six million tons straw biomass per year
in about 1.2m hectare land.
