Recent focus of DuPont on renewably sourced polymers improves sustainability and product cost behavior

In order to meet the increasing demands and needs of the end users, DuPont has decided to increase the product quantity of renewable sourced polymers. The company is trying to keep the costs at competitive level along with targeting the end consumers at the same time, said Dr Karlheinz Hausmann although it previously focused on compostable polyesters, sourced from non-renewable products.
As per his statements, end consumers also prefer recyclable materials due to which the company has emphasized on the renewable sourced monomers, without compromising with costs. Latest partnership with Braskem further ensures that DuPont will create different types of multilayer structures such as bio polyethylene & polyethylene including other barrier materials like polyamide, EVOH and cellulosic products.
According to http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/Trends/Going-green/DuPont-targets-renewably-sourced-polymer-increase, DuPont with further try to launch coupling agents completely based on wood composites and polyethylene which are renewably sourced at 95% level.
Both the consumer good and packaging industry are going to benefit with such partnerships which are aimed at improvement in sustainability, performance and downstream system cost of products. It should be noted here that Sorona EP, Hyrel TS, Zytel RS and Zytel RS HTN will be the top performance polymers in the renewably sourced portfolio, which has long term impacts.
