Stora Enso emphasizes on bio-polyethylene as natural option for renewable barrier coating

Bio-polyethylene seems to be the future barrier coating material in place of the traditional fossil-based options, as per the claims of Stora Enso. Coating manly makes the use of polyethylene but efforts are now active to replace the conventional methods to the latest one which is not only natural but also renewable to full extent. Future of bio-based materials and techniques is really bright and there are possibilities of being multiple methods which may be unraveled in EU Bioplastics Conference to be held in Berlin, the polymer specialist from R&D section, Risto Vapola confirms. There is no doubt that bio-based materials will steadily grow in applications at global level whereas the study for fiber-based renewable materials are also going on.

All efforts are thus directed towards to capitalize and commercialize the bio-based materials which will boasts of 100% renewability in the near future. http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/Trends/Going-green/Bio-PE-a-natural-choice-for-renewable-barrier-coating says polymers are finding increased uses in function properties or barrier for sealing ability and material conversion methods. Vapola gives more explanation about the future use of fiber and bio-based polymers that must be at least recycled, compostable or may be used in energy production with incineration, reducing the landfills. On the other hand, EU supported study on green oil has been stopped by BillerudKorsnas due to unfavorable experimental results done on pyrolysis oil however; the company will emphasize more on sustainable packaging solutions.
