Environmental
priorities have been on the top of the list for the recent partnership
concluded between WWF and LEGO Group which shown concerns about getting engaged
in positive activities and reducing the net carbon emissions on annual basis.
Of course, with this partnership the toy maker company has joined the league of
Johnson & Johnson, Volvo, HP, Sprint and Natura that are already active in
the Climate Savers program of WWF. The company has to take test initiatives to
deter carbon emission impacts from the supply chain and LEGO must reduce its
energy consumption by 10% in the production of one ton elements by 2016. LEGO
will also try its best to make use of 100% renewable energy sources by 2016
along with creating a strategy for the use of recycled products.
It
should be noted here that LEGO is responsible for producing 10% carbon
emissions at the initial stage of producing bricks while 90% of total emissions
come from the final supply chain activities, which must be reduced immediately
for a sustainable growth. LEGO has also take steps for ensured utilization of
renewable wind power with the introduction of WindMade Product Label for
increased electricity consumption and; commissioning of wind farm in Germany.
WWF has already appreciated the move of LEGO to join the group of Climate
Saver.
