FKuR Kunststoff GmbH and Corbion Purac together joined forces for development of poly lactic acid (PLA) compounds. Former is a bioplastic specialist while later is the international market leader to possess interest in PLA manufacturing for heat resistance and durability. Both of these groups are targeting production of new bioplastic compounds for food and non food packaging. Moreover, many durable products such as office stationeries and toys etc are also projected to be manufactured in this way. Both of these companies will work especially for development of compounds with high heat resistance feature; although, this feature has not been achieved in production of standard bioplastics till now. According to the CEO of FKuR, Edmund Dolfen, collaboration with Corbion Purac and technical capabilities of PLA offers innovative opportunity of designing well performing bio compounds. Lactic monomers used by the Corbio Purac are extracted from GMO free, renewable feedstocks such as sugarcane. It is considered to form platform for PLA and results in homopolymers that can withstand boiling water’s temperature. In this way, high performance characteristics to match the oil based counterparts are obtained. With the great combination of expertise and research skills, Corbion Purac has achieved success in development of high performance biobased compounds.
