Dimensions Polymers to launch the first engineered 3D printing filament with recycled plastics

Dimension Polymers, the technology startup in Chicago has developed the first 3D printing filament with recycled plastic. With the expectation of growth in digital manufacturing industry, this new sustainable 3D printing filament will influence the market soon. According to the research of Wells Fargo Wealth Management 2014 3D printing will represent good growth in market till 2017 and as it has already demonstrated vast capacity for applications from medical to automotive industry, it will secure the market of up to $5.7B within 2 years.

Galazin and Sherman, the Co-founders of Dimension Polymers are working especially for creation of the sustainability filament solution which is designed for reduction on carbon emissions up to 66%. Also, the founders are engaged in reformulation process for better results. After beta testing of the product, they have successfully formulated a refined filament to introduce it in the market. Co-founders also launched a Kickstarter campaign for introducing their product in the market. Galazin states that working with recycling companies, filament developers and independent hobbyists offered the company to receive good feedback for improvement of products. On the other hand, Sherman states that bio-friendly 3D printing filament helped driving the demand of sustainability.
