Phthalate plasticizers comprise over three fourth of the plasticizers used in development of soft PVC all over the world. Some negative impacts of phthalates are there on environment; human exposure to this compound can cause serious diseases like asthma and cancer. Keeping this fact on mind, safety concerns have been prompted by leading researchers who put all their efforts for healthier alternative. In the series of these efforts under the Placard project, production and application of new bio-based plasticizers from cardanol is carried out in through industrial process. Founded by Eco innovation of EU, Placard was launched in January 2014 with expectation of continuity till mid 2016. One of the noticeable features in the new Placard plasticizer is that it will have miscibility similar or better than DEHP.

The objective of this project is to produce about a ton of Placard plasticizer by the end of this project. Also the company plans to attain the stage on which the production level of this plasticizer will reach 1K ton per year just within two years after completion of the project. Impressive milestones and latest developments have been seen in the direction of Placard production. This plasticizer is good for reduction of CO2 emission and lessens the environment pollution.
