DibbioPack, a project is being done by researchers for modification of ORMOCER

Bioplastics production is the fastest growing industry in the modern time. Many leading companies are working for development of eco-friendly plastic for packaging industry. Bioplastic films which are made for packaging of products are facing challenges as they are not odor resistant and lead to contamination due to weak humidity resistant property.

In order to achieve biodegradability of the hybrid ORMOCER as the concept of integration of biopolymers developed and for bonding the ORMOCER precursor.  Researchers work extensively for chemical modification of biopolymers like Chitosan and celluloses. These products are subjected for bonding to an inorganic scaffold of silicon dioxide in order to impart better barrier properties to the product.

Read more about the deal here - http://www.bioplasticsmagazine.com/en/news/meldungen/20150113-bioOrmocer.php

But the scaffold used is not completely biodegradable and some of the small remnants remain same even after degradation. Work upon an EU project called as Dibbiopack is being done by a team of researchers. This project has been planned for developing the bio-based type of ORMORCER® in order to overcome the current shortcomings.  The product will be useful for manufacturing of domestic containers and packaging films.

Cost and availability to influence business plans for production of bio-based materials

Most of the eco-friendly product manufacturers in the world focus on production of bio-fuels and bio-polymers. For this purpose, food crops are employed in general but the government pressurizes to employ non-food cellulosic materials for this purpose. According to Lux Research, about 2.5 billion tons of cellulosic biomass are available in the modern time which are led by 1.2 billion tons of solid waste at different costs.

Andrew Soare, senior analyst of Lux Research stated that cost and availability are the two leading factors when analysis of feasibility of these biomass options is carried out. Andrew also prepared the report, ‘Quantifying Cost and Availability of Cellulosic Feedstocks for Bio-fuels and Biochemicals.’

Read more about the deal here - http://www.bioplasticsmagazine.com/en/news/meldungen/20141222Lux-research.php

He further says that various business plans in the modern time are still being created with low feedstock costs, despite of cellulosic feed-stocks potential. This is why, most of the business plans face failure and require optional plans. Also, some strategies become unsuccessful due to rising costs don’t meet proven feedstock value. Through evaluation of various cellulosic biomass sources, analysts of Lux Research found out that local availability is the key to success and wood residues can be used widely for production of bio-based materials.

Rapid Growth of the Bio-plastics Industry for Cost Effective Deals

With the day by day increasing bio-plastic industry, things are changing rapidly. Over 60 percent of the international bio-plastic production is being consumed by the packaging market; that’s how, the packaging industry became the highest consuming sector of bio-plastics. The most important thing to notice in this entire scenario is that the main reason to work behind the progress of the bio-plastic industry is that the cost of traditional polymers is higher than the bio-plastics. On the basis of economics and dynamics of the fossil fuel industry, entrepreneurs accept the role of packaging industry in consumption of bio-plastics.

Read more about the matter here at – http://www.packworld.com/sustainability/bioplastics/key-trends-driving-bioplastics-packaging

It is also a well known fact that bio-plastics is not something to be dependent on fossil fuels and raw material always still utilization of fossil fuel derived polymers for this purpose is a cost effective deal. Definitely, the day by day increasing price of gas, oil and traditional fuel don’t have potential to lower down the investment in production of biopolymers. That’s why; economists are now planning to develop bio-based plastics. Apart from this, environment regulation terms also play an important role to motivate producers for development of eco friendly products. Being the largest supplier of low cost fossil fuel and chemical production, Middle East region is known as the price point for determination of economics affiliated international chemical and polymer production.
