CO2 to be applied in the latest process of biodegradable plastic development

Bio-based plastics are in trend nowadays for their eco-friendly property. Actually, these plastics are developed through plant based raw materials that can be digested by micro-organisms easily; production of bio-plastics takes place through a technique using CO2. Degradation of bio-plastics intro water and CO2 is really a better idea than the process of degradation takes place in conventional plastic. As per the announcement done during the last week of October by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, a team of researchers from Ajou University has introduced the technique of bio-plastics production utilizing CO2.

Lee Boon Yeol, the leader of this research team states that this new method is good from the economy point of view as it is efficient enough to lower the cost of polymers during maintenance of mechanical and thermal properties. The best thing to know about the modern polymers is that they are awesome for production of bio-plastics as well as for development of bio-films, bio-packaging materials and medical devices too.

Another important thing to notice here is that the advance method is highly sophisticated for production of bio-plastics within short time period. These bio-plastics are useful for resolving the problems affiliated with solid waste management.
