Biofore concept car launched by UPM

UPM, the Finland based pulp and Paper Company done wonder recently in the Geneva International Motor Show. The featured design of vehicles with center console, display panel cover, door panels and passengers compartment floor designed with thermoformable wood material caught attention of viewers at once. Similarly, use of biocomposite for the manufacturing of side skirts, dashboard, door panels, interior panels and front mask has earned great popularity. Students of the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences developed the Biofore concept car with their wit and hard work. As per the spokesman of UPM, the car became about 150 kg lighter than similar vehicles due to use of biomaterial and represented a potential benefit of lesser fuel composition. Bio materials used in the car are fiber based cellulose and thermoformable wood matter that can be recycled and burned in a safer way. However, the chassis of the car bear some percentage of metal and carbon fiber.

These labels are known to be produced under solvent free processes. Although, the company has not revealed specific biomaterials employed for the production of auto’ designs still it is known that the five eco friendly materials are based upon cellulose based plastics and elastomer fabrics.
