Novamont acquires majority shares in Mater Biopolymer

Mater Biopolymer srl, a manufacturing unit of PET resin production group in Italy has offered a majority stake to Novamont, the Bioplastic firm. That’s how; Novamont is enjoying bearing an alternate to shop the remainder of Mater Biopolymer till 2016. According to the spokesperson of the company, the Italy based plant is called as the Patrica plant. It has become too smaller to maintain economical status of large scale of PET production but the size of this plant is suitable for Novamont. With some technological conversion along with the second line production, this plant will be perfectly ideal for large scale production of Origio-Bi. By purchasing this part of Mater Biopolymer, Novamont will possess about 78 percent of the company including 83 employees Patrica Plant. The one line production PET for M&G will take place exclusively for Novamont now. Another line of production will be based upon the manufacturing of Origio-Bi which has been modified enough during last four years. This time it will be subjected for improvement of features of the biodegradable and compostable plastics by Novamont.

Biodegradable products by Novamont are employed for the production of film and foam and also for manufacturing of injection molded products. On the other hand, Mater-Bi comprises of industrial applications in agriculture, organic food packaging and additives in rubber.
