USDA announces webinar regarding BioPreferred Program

The new Farm Bill 2014 has a number of benefits in store for the renewable chemicals industry, especially the BioPreferred Program launched by the United States’ Department of Agriculture (USDA). The main aim of the BioPreferred Program is to increase the purchase and consumption of bio-based products.

The funding of the BioPreferred Program comes from the Congress and more specifically from the Farm Bill. The BioPreferred Program manager, Ron Buckhalt, states that the expiration of the Farm Bill of 2008 in September 2012 was shackling the full implementation of the program. The Agricultural Act of 2014 which is the new Farm Bill was signed by President Obama and put into implementation in February 2014. Through this Act, the funding of the operations carried out by the program has been restored.

The USDA is holding a webinar on Friday, 14th of March 2014 from 1:00 to 2:15 EDT. Jeff Goodman, Chief of the USDA Environmental Management Division, will be discussing the reauthorization of the program and the changes that will be undertaken in order to implement the new Farm Bill. A big part of the webinar is dedicated to questions, feedbacks and comments from the attendees.
