Solvay starts on manufacturing of torrefied biomass

The number of industrial scale projects is increasing in US day by day; in this series, Solvay Biomass Energy is planning to launch the production of torrefied biomass. This project is the joint venture of US Company New Biomass Energy NBE and Solvay. Torrefied Biomass that handles and burns as coal is manufactured under the process of torrefaction and works to modify the chemical features of biomass and waste wood. It can instantly be applied as substitution of coal and offer over 25 percent more energy that conventional wood pellets. This whole process is an ultimate benefit for people working in logistic sector.  Read more about the deal here - http://greenchemicalsblog.com/2014/03/12/solvay-launches-production-of-torrefied-biomass/

According to Solvay, they are improving water repulsion features of the torrefied biomass for increasing storage and handling features. Production of the Biomass is being taken place in Quitman, Mississippi where a plant would have manufacturing efficiency of about 250K tons  till 2014 out of the 80K ton biomass per year currently. Byproducts such as saw mill residues and other bioproducts are utilized by the company as major raw material. Most of the percentage of production will last with Solvay only and will be carried out through better operations and manufacturing of the maintenance resource, regular sourcing of feedstock and awesome logistics and technology.
